Saturday Night

Saturday Night Live is coming off its most-watched season in decades. The show cleaned up at this year’s Emmy Awards, winning nine trophies, including Best Variety Sketch Series. And it’s rarely—if ever—been worse.

Saturday Night

kicks off its stretch of final shows of 2017 tomorrow night when Saoirse Ronan makes her hosting debut with musical guest U2, and the show released a round of promos this week to get you excited. In the above clip, Ronan and U2 are joined by cast member Kenan Thompson so that the promo includes an interesting accent, and in the below clip, Ronan and Cecily Strong enjoy the crowds of people who are definitely there to see Ronan and definitely not there to check out the Rockefeller Christmas tree lighting. After Ronan’s episode, SNL will close out the year with two returning hosts when James Franco hosts on the 9th followed by Kevin Hart on the 16th.

Saturday Night Live released its new promo video late Thursday night for the forthcoming episode to be hosted by Saoirse Ronan this weekend. Her show, featuring musical guest U2, kicks off a stacked talent list for SNL in December.

Both of the short clips included jokes about both Ronan and U2 being Irish. In the first, SNL cast member Kenan Thompson gives his best shot at mimicking their accents while trying to find out who has him for secret Santa.

“Can you guys understand me? I’m saying secret,” says Thompson, eventually giving up at the effort.

In the second promo, he addresses the topic more head-on, asking, “Isn’t it insane that in this situation I’m the one with the accent?”

Ronan will be hosting the show as part of the promotion for her film, Lady Bird, which recently set a Rotten Tomatoes record as the best-reviewed film of all-time. U2 will be promoting Songs of Experience, the band’s most recent album in its illustrious career.

Granted, each episode of the legendary series, now in its 43rd season on NBC, contains one or two gems. Recent high points include Chance the Rapper’s “Come Back, Barack” music video and an ad for the DNC that highlighted the Democratic Party’s biggest problems. (Both of those bits were pre-taped, not coincidentally.) “Weekend Update” has also been remarkably consistent this fall, especially Michael Che’s no-holds-barred rants against President Trump.

But when it comes to the show’s bread and butter—the live cold open sketch—this season has been severely lacking. And it has a lot to do with what has become a tired portrayal of Trump by Emmy-winner Alec Baldwin.

Baldwin didn’t think he’d be playing Trump past Election Day 2016, but there he was in the first cold open of the season two months ago, arguing on the phone with San Juan Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz about FEMA relief for Puerto Rico. “Ma’am, I don’t know if you know this, but you’re on an island in the water, the ocean water,” Baldwin’s Trump told her. “Big ocean, with fishies and bubbles and turtles that bite. We want to help you, but we have to take care of America first.”

Thanksgiving Day Parade 2017

Thanksgiving Day Parade 2017 Live Stream Online. Each is an integral part of Thanksgiving celebrations across the country, but only one takes over a big chunk of Midtown Manhattan every Thanksgiving Day.

Thanksgiving Day Parade 2017 Live

Thanksgiving Day Parade 2017

The 91st annual parade kicks off at 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 23 at 77th Street and Central Park West. A cornucopia of marchers, floats and the signature giant balloons will march downtown along the 2.5-mile route to the storied Macy’s flagship store at 34th Street and Sixth Avenue.

Scores of New Yorkers will help carry more than 30 of those giant balloons depicting classic characters old and new. Four balloons are making their debut this year — Olaf the Snowman from “Frozen,” Jett from “Super Wings,” Chase from “PAW Patrol” and Dr. Seuss’ the Grinch.

The ballons aren’t the only stars of the show. The parade’s got a star-studded lineup of performances from Gwen Stefani, 98 Degrees, Common, Smokey Robinson, Andy Grammer and others. A troupe of celebrities — including Harry Connick Jr., Martha Stewart, Thalia, Jane Krakowski, Whoopi Goldberg, Steve Harvey, Gaten Matarazzo, Chrissy Metz, and John O’Hurley — will do a special song-and-dance routine to the tune “Dancing in the Street.”

Here’s how to check out the parade in person or from home if you’ve got to start early on Thanksgiving dinner. You can also check out some behind-the-scenes work the night before the parade, when the balloons are inflated on the Upper West Side.

This year, the 91st annual parade will be hosted by NBC’s Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie and Al Roker, and will be broadcast on NBC, starting at 9 a.m., and until Santa arrives, just before noon.

The event, which starts at 77th Street and Central Park West, is expected to draw 3.5 million spectators. The procession will march to Columbus Circle, turn onto Central Park South and march down Sixth Avenue/Avenue of the Americas. At 34th Street, the parade will make its final turn west and end at Seventh Avenue in front of Macy’s Herald Square.

National Dog Show 2017

The National Dog Show is one of the premier dog shows in the United States, on par with the Westminster Dog Show and the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. The three events make up the sport’s U.S. Triple Crown.

For some people, the one thing to watch on Thanksgiving is football, but for all you dog lovers, there’s only one show you’ll be watching Thanksgiving Day. That’s right, it’s time for the 2017 National Dog Show. Each year the best of the best canines come out to show what they’ve got to the judges and try to be the Best in Show. You definitely won’t want to miss this dog filled show, so here’s how to stream the 2017 National Dog Show this Thanksgiving and revel in all the adorableness.

The National Dog Show will be airing on NBC at 12 p.m. in all time zones on Thursday, right after the Thanksgiving Day Parade. You can tune in to and watch the live stream at that time to see the show on your computer, but you will need a cable subscription in order to watch. You can also live stream the show on the NBC Sports Live app, however, you’ll also need a cable subscription for that as well.

If you’re unable to live stream the show or get to a TV on Thanksgiving, the good news is that there will be an encore presentation of the National Dog Show airing on NBC on Saturday, Nov. 25 from 8 to 10 p.m. EST, so you can still see these furry friends in action, even if it is after the holiday is over.

Thanksgiving Special Saturday Night 2017

The Thanksgiving special from Saturday Night Live (SNL) will feature a collection of the best turkey day skits on the show over the years. Quite a bit of the live episode that aired on Nov. 18 had a Thanksgiving tilt to it, so theoretically a few of those segments could make the cut. But I would bet that SNL goes a bit deeper into its archives than that. After all, they have been doing this kind of thing for a long time. Over the many years of SNL shows, there have been a few Thanksgiving-ish scenes that are a bit more fresh.

Thanksgiving Special Saturday Night 2017

This sketch from 2010 paid homage to the spirit behind Thanksgiving while embracing a hilarious bit of one-upsmanship from a few of its characters.

If they want to go a bit deeper into the archives, this skit really plays with the awkward family reunion side of the holidays. It features names that are fairly well-known today (mainly Bill Murray, to be honest), and aired way back in 1979.

While there obviously isn’t a traditional musical guest for the SNL Thanksgiving Special, there have been a few thanksgiving inspired songs over the years. Chance the Rapper performed one during his hosting gig just this past weekend. Adam Sadler began a tradition of Thanksgiving songs on SNL in 1992, and one has been featured on the show almost every year since. In fact, Saturday Night Live tried to make it a tradition (and mostly succeeded). Some songs have been performed by the actual musical guests and others by the SNL cast doing their impersonations. You can find a few other examples of SNL Thanksgiving songs here.

WWE NXT TakeOver 2017

The weekend of Nov. 18 will be all about the WWE. It’s the last “Big 4” pay-per-view of the year, Survivor Series. However, that’s on Sunday night, while the NXT roster takes over Saturday evening at the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. This is for NXT TakeOver: War Games.

If War Games sounds familiar, that’s due to the WWE bringing it back for this TakeOver. It’s a match that features two rings inside a steel cage, multiple teams going head-to-head in a chaotic bout. This was made famous in WCW.

At TakeOver, it will be The Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong vs. SAnitY vs. The Undisputed Era in a War Games match. It’s the likely main event of the show, unless the traditional NXT Championship match of Drew McIntyre vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas overtakes it.

War Games will be Adam Cole’s first TakeOver match since debuting at Brooklyn III in August. Since then, he aligned with Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish to form NXT’s latest stable. Will these three wreak havoc and walk out victoriously?

The vacant NXT Women’s Championship will also be on the line at TakeOver: War Games. Peyton Royce, Kairi Sane, Ember Moon and Nikki Cross will contend for it. This belt was vacated by Asuka after TakeOver: Brooklyn III, when she suffered an injury against Moon.

Tonight’s show kicks off Survivor Series weekend for WWE from Houston’s Toyota Center, and it’s offering up a pretty stacked card.

The big draw is the return of the match which gives this special it’s subtitle. WWE’s version will feature three team of three locked inside the cage which covers two rings. Members of Undisputed ERA, SAnitY and Authors of Pain with Roderick Strong will enter one at a time, unleashing chaos to settle the scores between them.

While WarGames takes the tag belts off the line, it’s a big night for NXT’s other titles. Fighting champion Drew McIntyre will try to have a straight-up battle with Andrade “Cien” Almas, if El Ídolo’s associate Zelina Vega will allow it. And Asuka’s successor will finally be crowned when Peyton Royce, Ember Moon, Kairi Sane and Nikki Cross wrestle in a Fatal 4Way for the vacant Women’s championship

Rounding out the card is non-title action, including the next and possibly final step of Velveteen Dream’s campaign to get Aleister Black to say his name. Kassius Ohno will also attempt to be the man to finally break Lars Sullivan’s win streak, and stop his path of destruction.

While you’re waiting for the show to begin, dig into our predictions – as well as a preview of the entire card!

Kick your off your shoes, relax, and enjoy all the action with the best damn pro wrestling community on the interwebs. And remember to keep refreshing!

Ford EcoBoost 400

Four drivers are left and one race remains in the playoffs to crown the 2017 Monster Energy Cup Series champion. Whomever finishes best among Kyle Busch, Kevin Harvick, Brad Keselowski, and Martin Truex Jr. at Homestead-Miami Speedway will win the title on Sunday.

Truex enters the championship final as the favorite with six of his seven wins this season coming on mile-and-a-half tracks, the same size as Homestead. But Harvick won the last race on a 1.5.-mile track two weeks ago at Texas Motor Speedway, passing Truex in the closing laps, and believes his team holds the advantage in the Ford 400. Truex has also never won at the South Florida oval, while Harvick and Busch each own wins at Homestead.

Busch, Harvick, and Keselowski each are former series champions, while Truex is seeking his first title in NASCAR’s top division. Were Busch, Harvick, or Keselowski to win Sunday, they would join seven-time winner Jimmie Johnson as the only active drivers with multiple championships.

NBC will broadcast the Ford 400 on Sunday. The network’s coverage begins at 2 p.m. ET, with the green flag scheduled for 2:46 p.m.

Homestead schedule and how to watch
Session 1: Friday, 12:30 p.m. – 1:55 p.m. ET

Session 2: Saturday, 10 a.m. – 10:55 a.m.

Session 3: Saturday, 1 p.m. – 1:50 p.m.

Four remain and fight it out for a championship Sunday when the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series takes a final turn and heads into Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Ford Ecoboost 400.

A wild season highlighted by unpredictable results thanks to new rules and on-track packages has spit up four worthy names.

Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr. and Brad Keselowski are the four left standing, and there isn’t a clear-cut favorite among them, which is fitting given the winding path the season traveled.

Before those four put it all on the line in Miami, let’s take a look at everything to know about the event.

It’s time for titles. By the time this weekend is over, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR XFINITY Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will all have crowned new champions.

Except they might not be entirely new. Johnny Sauter, the man with the hot hand in the Truck Series, has been here before. So too has Kyle Busch, though he has this season’s most consistently fast Cup Series driver, Martin Truex Jr., battling him on even terms with Kevin Harvick and Brad Keselowski also very much in the hunt.

The XFINITY Series, however, is guaranteed to award a championship to someone who has never won it before, be it a rising star like William Byron or a crafty veteran like Elliott Sadler. That gives Saturday’s race a different dynamic from the other two, though all three will definitely have their share of intrigue.

And when the Ford EcoBoost 400 rolls around on Sunday, it will also mark the end of the road for Dale Earnhardt Jr., and possibly Matt Kenseth and Danica Patrick as well. You won’t want to miss out, so courtesy of, here’s the full schedule of championship weekend action from Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Latin Grammys Award 2017

LAS VEGAS – The Spanish-Latin pop duo Los del Rio won on Wednesday the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Latin Grammy Awards in Las Vegas, along with other popular artists such as Lucecita Benitez, Joao Bosco, Ilan Chester, Victor Heredia, Guadalupe Pineda and Cuco Valoy.

Famous for their greatest hit song “Macarena,” which topped the US billboard charts for 14 weeks in 1996, Antonio Romero Monge and Rafael Ruiz Perdigones, the two souls of Los del Rio, received the award during a private ceremony held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas, which was celebrated as part of the 18th Annual Latin Grammy Week.

Ruiz Perdigones and Romero Monge said that “it is a great honor to be recognized by the most universal of music awards,” for which he thanked “from the heart” the Latin Recording Academy.

The president of the Latin Recording Academy, Gabriel Abaroa, welcomed the winners this year and underlined that this award honored the “living legends” of Latin music, “all unique.”

Among other Latin American artists that were awarded this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award include Argentine singers-songwriter Victor Heredia, Puerto Rican pop singer Lucecita Benitez, Brazilian singer-songwriter Joao Bosco, Venezuelan musician Ilan Chester and the Dominican salsa-merengue singer Cuco Valoy.

In addition, Jon Fausty, known for his work as a sound engineer in salsa, and Lalo Schifrin, famous composer of movie soundtracks, also received the Trustees Award.

This special ceremony is celebrated prior to the main event of the 18th Latin Grammys, which will also be held in Las Vegas on Thursday.

“La Flor De La Canela,” Rubén Blades
“El Surco,” Jorge Drexler
“Quiero Que Vuelvas,” Alejandro Fernández
“Despacito,” Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee
“El Ratico,” Juanes feat. Kali Uchis
“Amárrame,” Mon Laferte feat. Juanes
“Felices Los 4,” Maluma
“Vente Pa’ Ca” Ricky Martin feat. Maluma
“Guerra,” Residente
“Chantaje,” Shakira feat. Maluma

Leila Cobo: The record of the year category is different from song of the year because it’s not given to the composition but to the actual recording, based on the quality of the recording. Maluma would have been such a contender, and I love “Felices Los 4.” But with two songs, his voting will be diluted. I think the award will go to Residente’s “Guerra,” which is phenomenal, or to Juanes’ also wonderful “El Ratico” featuring Kali Uchis. Grammy voters love Juanes and Residente.

Marjua Estevez: I like “Chantaje” too. But I was looking at Juanes and Kali Uchis because of the crossover aspect. But “Despacito” fully ruled the charts and the radio, and it was the summer darling. If Luis Fonsi is going to win anything, I would think record of the year.

Suzette Fernandez: I think Residente will win. His single and his new album, musically, are really good. But if I were to choose a winner, I would say “Vente Pa’Ca” by Ricky Martin and Maluma. The music is really good and they have good people in the production.

Pamela Bustios: I have two. “La Flor De La Canela” and “El Surco.” They’re both coming out of tribute albums for Chabuca Granda, and I’m Peruvian. Ruben Blades does an amazing job with “La Flor De La Canela,” but “El Surco” by Jorge Drexler is amazing. He flirts with the song, it’s joyful, it’s fresh, he provokes you with that song.

Salsa Big Band, Rubén Blades Con Roberto Delgado & Orquesta
Antonio Carmona, Antonio Carmona
A La Mar, Vicente García
Fénix, Nicky Jam
Mis Planes Son Amarte, Juanes
La Trenza, Mon Laferte
Musas (Un Homenaje Al Folclore Latinoamericano En Manos De Los Macorinos, Vol. 1), Natalia Lafourcade
Residente, Residente
El Dorado, Shakira
Palabras Manuales, Danay Suarez

LC: I would be so surprised if Residente doesn’t win this. A superb album, great backstory, strong Grammy history. Having said that, I love Nicky Jam’s album not just because of the hits, but because of everything it symbolizes in his comeback. Also given the importance of reggaeton today, I think having Nicky Jam win with an album that was really very thought-out and has a mix of commercial and non-commercial would be a good message.

ME: I think Residente will win. But I would love Danay Suarez’s Palabras Manuales to win. I think she’s poised. I think she has the possibility of being an eminent Spanish-speaking female artist of the reggae genre.

SF: I’m in love with the new Nicky Jam, honestly. But we also have Juanes there. Musically the album is really good. But once again, I think Residente is going to win.

PB: I have two favorites. One is Musas by Natalia Lafourcade. Natalia carefully picked every single song on that album — and her haunting voice with Los Macorinos, it’s an amazing fusion. And Residente, he’s gone into the job of actually getting a DNA test and looking at the history to find out where he comes from. I saw him perform the whole album live, and the band is amazing. It’s like an adventure.

“Amárrame,”  Mon Laferte, songwriter (Mon Laferte feat. Juanes)
“Chantaje,” Kevin Mauricio Jiménez Londoño, Bryan Snaider Lezcano Chaverra, Joel Antonio López Castro, Maluma and Shakira, songwriters (Shakira featuring Maluma)
“Desde Que Estamos Juntos,” Descemer Bueno and Melendi, songwriters (Melendi)
“Despacito,” Daddy Yankee, Erika Ender and Luis Fonsi, songwriters (Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee)
“Ella,” Ricardo Arjona, songwriter (Ricardo Arjona)
“Felices Los 4,” Mario Cáceres, Kevin Mauricio Jiménez Londoño, Maluma, Servando Primera, Stiven Rojas and Bryan Snaider Lezcano Chaverra, songwriters (Maluma)
“Guerra,” Residente and Jeff Trooko, songwriters (Residente)
“La Fortuna,” Diana Fuentes and Tommy Torres, songwriters (Diana Fuentes feat. Tommy Torres)
“Tú Sí Sabes Quererme,” Natalia Lafourcade, songwriter (Natalia Lafourcade feat. Los Macorinos)
“Vente Pa’ Ca,” Nermin Harambasic, Maluma, Ricky Martin, Mauricio Montaner, Ricky Montaner, Lars Pedersen, Carl Ryden, Justin Stein, Ronny Vidar Svendsen and Anne Judith Stokke Wik, songwriters (Ricky Martin feat. Maluma)

LC: Song of the year is a category given to the songwriter. And it has to be “Despacito.” I don’t care how good any other song is. It just has to be this one.

SF: I would give a chance to “Felices Los 4,” which has also been a very big hit.

ME: I think that the only competition “Despacito” has is Residente’s “Guerra.” But I love “Felices Los 4″!

PB: I was going to go with “Tu Si Sabes Quererme” by Natalia Lafourcade because it’s a beautiful song. But song of the year of course is “Despacito.” It’s been on the charts forever, it spent 16 weeks at the top of the charts on the Hot 100. This alone makes it deserve to win this year.

Paula Arenas
Vicente García
Martina La Peligrosa
Mau y Ricky
Sofía Reyes
Danay Suarez
Sebastián Yatra

LC: Now the very hotly contested best new artist category. It’s such a good category this year.

ME: I like the mix.

LC: CNCO have been such a fantastic success story because it’s a boy band that comes from a TV show. I think no one thought that this would do anything beyond that. And here they are two years later, and they’re doing remarkably well. With that said, I think Mau y Ricky are excellent and maybe this is the push they need to kind of really gain the attention that I think they deserve. They’re really great musicians and they have the backing of the music industry because they have such a musical pedigree being the children of Ricardo Montaner. I believe Mau y Ricky are going to win.

SF: CNCO, totally. I don’t see anybody else as strong as CNCO in that category. I think they’re humble, they’re still natural. That’s why fans love them so much.

ME: I’m not even that familiar with their discography, but I’ve noticed their following and their fans’ reactions to their music is bonkers.

I think they’ll win, just based on how the general public and their fans have received them. Who I would love to win is, of course, Danay Suarez.

PB: CNCO is a great band and they’re fresh, and their sound is amazing. But I have to go with Marjua: Danay Suarez is my favorite new artist. I think she’s the complete package. Of course, she’s not as mainstream as CNCO.

“Soy Yo,” Bomba Estéreo
“Despacito,” Luis Fonsi feat. Daddy Yankee
“SIncericido,” Leiva
“Los Charcos,” Dani Martín
“Desencuentro,” Residente feat. Soko

LC: The ‘Desencuentro’ video is out of this world. I love it. I think it’s beautiful. I think it’s a work of art. I think it should definitely win, except that we have ‘Despacito’ and I do not see how you can ignore four billion views on YouTube.

ME: I think “Despacito” is gonna win. But I would love to see “Soy Yo” win. I love, love, love that video. I love the little girl. I thought it was beautiful. It was filmed in Brooklyn. I love the aesthetics of it. I love her funk. I love her attitude, and I felt like home watching it just because I’m from New York. So I appreciated the very vintage aesthetics to the video.

SF:  I think “Desencuentro” is a really good video. It’s really artistic. But I have to vote for “Despacito.” My island is Puerto Rico, so I feel connected to the video.

PB: ‘Desencuentro’ is a work of art. Completely agree with everything you just said. The first time I actually heard the song I was in love, and then I watched the video and I was more in love. But of course, “Despacito” is ‘”Despacito.” We have to give it its place.

“A Chapa É Quente!,” Língua Franca
“Coqueta,” Ghetto Kids
“El amante,” Nicky Jam
“Hey Ma (Spanish Version),” Pitbull & J Balvin feat. Camila Cabello
“Papa,” Lápiz Consciente feat. Vico C
“Somos anormales,” Residente

LC: It’s been a year of streaming, it’s been a year of singles and it’s been a year of a lot of fusion with urban music primarily. Interestingly enough, this is not a category of hits. But I think it’s going be a contest between “Somos Anormales” and “El Amante.” It will boil down to if voters will go for more commercial fare or not. I think this category should be won by “El Amante” because it reflects the trend of music right now globally, and what a fantastic song it is.

ME: I think Residente is brilliant. I like “El Amante” too, but I think Residente will win this. But I wanted to see Ozuna somewhere. He’s missing!

SF: I’m all the way with “El Amante.”

PB: I agree with Marjua. I would love Residente to win and I would have loved to see Ozuna as well.
